I got a question today via email about how random the Random Quote Widget really is.
After the widget is installed on a site or web page, every time a page with the widget is viewed by a user the widget makes a call back to FocalPower to request a quotation filtered by the widget's settings. Every time a page is viewed a new random quote is retrieved. So, if two people, viewing different websites with the quote widget installed, view a page at the same time, each widget will request a random. A different quotation will be delivered to each user.
Now, based upon the theory of randomness, the same quote seen twice in a row is possible. Especially when the set of possible quotes created by the filter is small.
I hope this clears up some confusion on how the random part of the widget works!
